During Covid

Since spring of 2020 I have been seeing clients via a telehealth platform, similar to Zoom except that it is fully encrypted and confidential. If we decide to work together, I will send you a link via email along with simple instructions on how to sign in to the program.

To many clients’ surprise, and to mine as well, there turned out to be many advantages to online therapy. Some clients feel that it is easier to go into greater depth than it is in an office visit. Others have found that beginning and ending a session without having to deal with the stresses of driving has given them the welcome opportunity to take quiet time before and after our meeting to anticipate and reflect on the work of the session.

For my part, I was grateful to discover that there has been no loss of depth in the work. I also realized that meeting this way is good for the environment. I calculated the total number of driving miles saved by adding up the round-trip distances from each clients’ home to my office, and discovered that by meeting online, we were saving over 1000 miles per week!

Some clients, however, are unable to meet online for a variety of reasons, so when it is once again safe to meet in person, I will re-open an office for one or two days per week, at which point I will have a hybrid practice, continuing to see most clients online. Watch this website for updates on if/when I open a new office location.
